Meet The Board

 

Diane Kreuger
Chairperson

Diane is self-employed as a Career Advisor where she assists individuals with disabilities with their career planning as well as job search. For the past 7 years Diane has volunteered with the Calgary Association of Disabled Skiers. She is also the Past Chair for the Career Development Association of Calgary and is a member of the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians. She is a member of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Association in Calgary and works closely with several agencies and organizations that advocate and promote independence in daily living, community, volunteer and employment.
For the past 10 years, her passion has been with the overall well being of persons with disabilities and their communication needs. She has been particularly involved with the deaf community. Through her involvement with the deaf community and work as a community and employment facilitator, she has become acutely aware of the need to enhance the quality of life for deaf, deaf/blind and hard of hearing individuals within their community and at home.
Diane has been a Board member for three years with the Calgary Centre. In that time she was acting Executive Director for 4 months and then became vice-chair of the Board. She is also a Board member for CAILC as the Alberta Representative for three years.

David K.Rice
Vice-Chairperson

David is employed in the field of Human Resources where he is involved in various areas of assisting individuals with disabilities. David’s initial exposure to persons with disabilities started in post secondary, while championing for rights of disabled persons to equal education opportunities. In addition to completing an education in Human Resources and Computer Science David also received a Certificate in both Tutoring and Leadership, which led to his volunteer work with The Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta – Calgary Chapter.
David has continued his passion within the disability movement as a Board member for three (3) years with the Calgary Centre, recently taking on the role of Vice-Chairman.

Kate King
Secretary

Kate King is a native Calgarian and her first career restaurant business Entrée Nous’ was her life and mission for 11 years although she misses the business she doesn’t miss the hours. She has now found her niche in corporate sales and marketing and is a Marketing & Process Manager for Foothills Systems, a Division of Stelterr Factory Direct.

Her volunteer experience includes working with the 1988 Winter Olympics’ family Program, participating in the 1992 Mini Torch fundraiser for Special Olympics Torch from Canada to France. She has been an active Board member with ILRCC since 2004. Kate is an avid golfer and enjoys dance, music and travel as well as being fluent in Spanish and conversational French.

Brad Michelson
Treasurer

Mr. Michelson has spent three years in the assurance and advisory group, and is currently employed with PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Mr. Michelson has provided services to small private companies to large public companies throughout his career. His educational background is a bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge, and is currently working towards his Chartered Accountant designation, which should be completed in the fall of 2007. Mr. Michelson has been actively involved in fund raising for the MS society for the past 15 years.

Sat Gill
Member

Sat Gill is an entrepreneurial minded individual. He specializes in designing accessible web sites.  Sat's educational background and training includes certificates in Desktop Publishing, New Media and Small Business Development. 
Sat has volunteer experience with other organizations such as, Communities in Action for Children & Youth and the Ability Society of Alberta. Sat is a strong supporter of the Independent Living Movement and has been serving on the Board since 2004.
