It is the goal of the Personal Empowerment & Life Skills Program to increase opportunities for consumers to exercise self-determination. We accomplish this goal in several ways:
Information & Resources
We put "Resource Centre" in ILRCC. We act as a resource hub for Calgary to provide consumers with information and referrals to disability related resources. No matter what question or problem you may have, we will work with you to ensure that your needs are met.
Do you feel empowered and able to search for your own options? That's what we had in mind...
Visit the Community Resource Database to browse through 500+ agencies to find the one that suits your needs.
Life Skills Workshops
We collaborate with other local agencies so consumers can participate in workshops to learn everyday skills like banking, budgeting and grocery shopping, cooking etc. We also provide opportunities for consumers, their families and support networks to learn important information about disability related initiatives such as the RDSP, AISH, PDD and Access Calgary through information sessions.
Keep an eye on the Life Skills postings below for upcoming workshops.
Community Involvement
We focus on decreasing barriers to self-determination by establishing relationships within our community, and, through our work on committees.
We always welcome suggestions for future workshops or any inquiries regarding upcoming sessions. If you have any ideas or would like to facilitate one, please contact Debby Bullock, Personal Empowerment Program Coordinator, at (403) 263-6880 ext 225 or
