Volunteers

This program provides an opportunity to build confidence, self-esteem, practical skills, job exploration, social connections and friendships. Our goals are to support individuals in fulfilling internal volunteer opportunities. As well, through one-to-one consultations individuals with disabilities can be assisted in seeking community volunteer opportunities. Volunteers can attend an introductory workshop to volunteering and monthly volunteer gatherings.

Testimonials

INDIVIDUALS VOLUNTEER AT THE ILRCC BECAUSE ...

"It has given me a chance to get out and contribute to society.  It has also allowed me to acquire new skills and become more confident at what I do."  -Les

"The reason I like to volunteer at the ILRCC is because I find that helping out others I'm able to find out more about myself in positive ways, I feel good about myself, and I like to learn new skills from everyone here."  -Sharon

"It has made me a totally different person by taking me from low self-esteem to high self esteem." - Margaret

A Day in the Life

It would be difficult to imagine a day without volunteers as they are such an integral part of the Centre.  Volunteers are involved in all aspects from helping to raise funds at our casino to being a director on our Board; from completing office and clerical tasks to maintaining receptionist responsibilities; from providing program support to being teachers and mentors in the areas of skill development and everything in between.
