Volunteer Program

What is the Volunteer Program?

It creates barrier-free volunteering opportunities for adults with and without disabilities. It helps all applicants find meaningful internal and external volunteering opportunities.

Program objectives:

  • Create barrier-free volunteering opportunities
  • Provide opportunities for participants to have meaningful, productive roles in society
  • Support all applicants to find a volunteering opportunity, whether internal or external
  • Decrease social isolation and enhance community integration for persons with disabilities
  • Support other organizations to provide volunteering opportunities

How it works:

  1. One-on-one consultation with new participants identifies the aspirations, skills, needs and interests of each individual.
  2. Positions are customized to fit individuals with their aspirations, skills, needs and interests in mind.
  3. Participants obtain fulfilling learning experience, and unique opportunities within the community.

Participation will help decrease social isolation and enhance community integration for those living with a disability.

In January 2014, the Volunteer Program was completely redesigned with funding assistance and support from United Way of Calgary.

We would like to the United Way for its support and funding in reshaping our Volunteer Program.

What others are saying:

“You guys deserve a gold star, because you nailed it. I just want to let you know from the home support and from [my roommate’s] family – we are absolutely over the moon. We have waited five years for something like this to come up. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
